Bad Shopping Days

You walk into a store hopeful and excited about the new clothes that just came in. You've been scoping them out online but the pictures don't do justice and your just so excited to finally see them in person. You do a lap around the store and by the time you commit to a dressing room, your arms are full of clothes.
The first thing you try on, in my case, a cute navy and white striped wrap around romper, looks not as good as you thought it would. Still hopeful, you move onto the next item. A white lace cold shoulder crop top that would look adorable with high waisted jeans. It does absolutely nothing for your body and you move on to the next thing. High waisted jeans that say I'm a mom from the 70's more than they say boho chic. At this point your disgusted with yourself and decide its time to lose 30 pounds.
You leave everything in the dressing room and walk out of the store upset and disgusted. Feeling defeated, you go home and eat a whole pizza by yourself to eat your feelings.

Shopping

I love shopping; I mean really that’s an understatement. But I’ve gotten so addicted to it, that I get a high just from swiping a credit card. Sometimes I get the urge just to spend money, I don’t even care what it’s on. Is that an addiction? Oops. I honestly can’t help it; I just really love the feeling of bags full of new clothes, new outfits, a magic plastic card and 7-hour trips to the mall. Shopping is a full day experience with me and you usually start preparing a few days ahead of time just to get an idea in your mind of the items you must buy. Now when I get to the mall its kind of like when I go to a party, you take a lap before committing to a location. So I take a lap around the mall before committing to one store. Committing to a store is really based on shop windows or something I saw online that I had to have right away. If I’m going to make a big purchase I might also put the item on hold just to shop around a little bit more before so that I don’t have buyers remorse.

Black and Blue, Gold or White or Just Ugly

The dress is what everyones been talking about for the last 12 hours, debating whether its black and blue or gold and white but I think we can all agree on one thing is that its really ugly. First of all, body con dresses have been out since the Jersey Shore was a thing and it looked like a kindergarten art class glued lace strips around the dress here and there. I wouldn't be surprised if the dress is being sold for less than $30.

Kendra Scott

I’ve raved about her before and I’m about to do it again. Kendra Scott knows how to make jewelry. From her pendant necklaces to gorgeous drop earrings, she makes it all and she makes it well. For my birthday I am asking for the Hayden Pendant in turquoise.

White Pants

White pants look so classic and timeless. They always have ever since our First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, wore them with Jack Roger’s they have been an American classic.

Paired with a navy and white boat tee and Sperry Top-Siders, you have yourself a perfectly preppy outfit.  They look very crisp and clean; they can clean up any outfit. They can also look more formal paired with a cute blouse and wedges. White pants are an American staple every woman should have in their wardrobe.

Investments

Spending a lot of money on something that is going to last is totally worth it.  You can buy three pairs of cheap shoes but for the price of those three pairs of shoes you can buy one good pair of shoes that are going to last years.
I’ve had one pair of Jack Rogers sandals for three years now and they look just as good as they did when I first bought them. I wear them religiously in the summer, to the beach, to barbeques and they’ve held up these three years.
Investing your money into good quality timeless pieces in the long run is going to save you money.  You are going to be able to buy more for your money and in return save money.

Patterned Denim

I love almost anything printed or patterned thanks to the queen of fun prints, Lilly Pulitzer. Lately I have been seeing a lot of printed denim and I'm loving it. Vineyard Vines has also even come out with some adorable printed pieces. I love how casual they are but they can still dress up an outfit, even though your wearing jeans. They are definitely a must in my spring wardrobe this year.

Top Three Spring Classics

With spring, my favorite season for fashion, just around the corner, I figured I’d talk about a few of my favorite spring items. I have timeless pieces for spring that I’ve had for years and that I plan to keep for years to come.

Jack Roger’s leather sandals have been in my closet for almost 4 years now. The first pair I received as a gift, they are the classic Jack Roger’s sandal design in gold and cork and they go with absolutely everything and are by far the most comfortable pair of sandals I own. Since that first pair, I’ve acquired two more pairs, a navy and white in the classic style and a pair of pink ones for the beach. I definitely plan on buying more in the near future, as they have a monogrammed collection.

White pants are a staple in my wardrobe and I wish I could wear them all year round with my Jack Rogers or Sperry Top-Sider’s. I just think they look so classically clean and preppy and can dress up a casual outfit a little bit. They look great paired with a Vineyard Vines polo and headband.

Sperry Top-Sider’s have been in my life ever since I was little. When I’m not wearing my Jack’s, you’ll definitely see me wearing my Sperry’s. I wear these to school, to the lake, sailing, any activity really because they are meant for water and meant to be worn through things unlike leather Jack Rogers. I have the classic pair of Sperry’s with the madras lining inside of them and they, just like my Jack’s, go with everything I own.

These three items are truly staples I will most likely have in my closet forever. You can add them to any outfit and they can truly be incorporated into any wardrobe.

Layering

This time of year is kind of an awkward time. Its March so you think you should be able to wear white pants and Lilly skirts, but it’s way too cold outside still. I’ve found only one way to add color back into your wardrobe without freezing, and that is layering.

Starting with a simple piece like a patterned button down should be your base piece. I personally love all my J.Crew printed popovers and button downs embroidered with anchors and cute marine animals. On top of that I’ll add a cashmere sweater, usually a solid print to keep things simple. Then maybe roll up the sleeves a little bit to show off that print from the shirt I’m wearing underneath. If I want to add something a little more to the outfit, I’ll add a statement necklace. If the day is really cold or I just want to add on another layer, I’ll put on a vest, once again usually a solid color to keep all the main focus of the outfit on the button down or popover I’m wearing.

Wearing all these layers is also great because if I get too hot during the day I can easily just take a layer off and stiff have my outfit be complete and put together.
